Really, really loved this book. Could not put it down and there’s no better feeling than a book you can’t stop reading. I fell in love with the characters and how they each depict the messiness of life. I enjoyed how Mellors switched POV’s, I enjoyed how I laughed and cried, I enjoyed everything about it!!

This book is a collection of saying and very short tales that are meant to inspire and enhance a spiritual if not religious outlook. I was unimpressed. If you try, it’s not hard to find meaning in many events, and I think this author tried too hard and often ventured from spiritualism, that I would have been OK with, into religion, that I was not.

Great Victorian mystery, with a bit of spiritualism thrown into the mix.

This non-fiction book tells the story of Elizabeth Packard. She is a woman I have never heard of but should have. Sane women are institutionalized by their husbands on whims including Elizabeth. She fought to get back rights for her and others caught in this situation . The story is at times tedious but I am glad I learned about this formidable woman.

Two people meet for lunch in a Manhattan restaurant. She’s an accomplished actress preparing for an upcoming premiere. He’s young, attractive, and convinced he is her son. She has her doubts, so who is he? Ms. Kitamura writes in a tight, spare style that captures the depth of each of her characters. The story is told in two acts, much like a play. Each section depicts its own scenario allowing the reader to decide what is true. Beautifully written, this novel will leave you thinking about the roles we all play every day.

And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer And Longer

This is a most touching story of a grandfather and his relationship with his son and grandson as he devolves into Alzheimer’s. It is beautiful and sad and told from the grandfather’s point of view. Everyone should read this.

While not my typical read, this book was OK and takes place in a dystopian world. Despite being quite dark, two characters do manage to find love and draw strength from that. What is really nice are the illustrations which are wonderfully done.

We Have Always Lived In The Castle

This is a haunting tale about the few remaining remnants of a family after a mass murder. But a mass murder committed by Whom? And way do they remain so secluded only to embrace the presence of an obscure relative? This story wonderfully raised more questions than it answers.
