Lessons In Chemistry
by Bonnie Garmus

I loved this book! Will definitely look for more by this author!

The Game I Love
by Sam Snead

This is a very quick read with a bunch of short stories about all things golf written by Sam Snead. I enjoyed reading about his insights on golf and will apply some of his advice to my game.

On Fire Island
by James Patterson and Emily Raymond

I have mixed feelings about this book. The narrator is Julia who has just died way too young. Yes, the narrator is deceased and she is intent on watching over her grieving husband Ben until she knows he'll be okay. Ben escapes to their Fire Island home hoping to avoid people but as you know things don't always turn out as expected. The book is written with humor as you find out their story and the stories of those around them.

Sophia, Princess Among Beasts
by James Patterson and Emily Raymond

This is  fantasy book that just did not engage me.  Over all the story isn't bad but I could not read more than a chapter or 2 at a time (and if you know James Patterson, his chapters are short).

The Wolf and the Watchman
by Niklas Natt Och Dag

This international best seller was not my cup of tea. There were some segments that peaked my interest but overall I did not enjoy. It is a very dark novel set in late 18th century Sweden.

The Postcard
by Anne Berest

Wow, interesting, informative story. The book starts in 2003 with a postcard arriving at the author's home addressed to her grandmother, with 4 names printed on it. The names are her great-grandparents and two of their children. All four perished during World War II. This is when you learn the fascinating yet tragic history of the Rabinovich family. The next section of the book you move forward to the 'present'. An incident in her daughter's school moves the author to find out who sent that postcard 15 years before. I won't tell you who but I will tell you that her quest was a success.

Red At The Bone
by Jacqueline Woodson

I have mixed feelings about this book. The book has 6 central characters and each of the characters shares their perspective, feeling, and observations as the tale unfolds. While the writing is good and the characters interesting, the story jumps around a lot both in time and in who is speaking. I found it difficult to know who was speaking during each section and what the time frame was. Maybe this is one of those books you have to read a second time to get the most out of it.

Once We Were Home
by Jennifer Rosner

This is a WW II story about Jewish children who were placed with Christian families or convents & what happens to them after the war. Each child has a story to tell about their identity & who they really are

Horse
by Geraldine Brooks

This book is based on the true story of the American thoroughbred, Lexington. One of the greatest racehorses in history, he went on to sire many other notable winners in horse racing history. As historical fiction, this novel weaves together three stories from Kentucky in the 1850s, New York City in 1954, and Washington, DC in 2019. Connecting them all is a story of lost history and the bond between an enslaved groom and the horse he cares for from birth. While it might seem like a big book to tackle, you will be rewarded in the end.

Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone
by Benjamin Stevenson

I was excited to read this one but for me, it didn't live up to its hype -- though I did like the humor in it. You want a synopsis? Well, the title pretty much says it all. ??
